For some reason, many are convinced that fashion is a cold world, populated by people detached from real problems, people in charge of charity just to get publicity. A world that is icy and distant, bright and gorgeous that few can access. True charity is one that is not publicized in the media, some say.
Are there other ways? Probably yes, and there are others who are experiencing them. A new way of doing things, a way to give a little what you had, as in the case of The Glow Brand. This brand made in England was born in memory of Jennifer Haines, in January 2011. Miss Haines was known for having pioneered whole marathons and beat more than 10 records, and this talent led her to join the Green Club Number. The inspiration to help others in her name was the natural next step.
The purpose of The Glow Brand is to collect as much as possible to finance various institutions, social and cultural rights, and to do that the brand sells an accessory that involves all the determination, strength, boldness, courage and feminine grace that every woman has within her: the stiletto.
Ten models (made in Italy) of ten different colors are made, but each of them represents a different project: the pumps are to be yellow in support of the Arts Foundation, the blue for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, the nude in favor of Help The Children and many others. A color, a shoe that can make a difference, rejoicing or improving the day of the wearer, and a tangible way to help those who really need it.
The Glow Brand chooses which organizations to support and such causes have priority and allows the buyer to see a tangible thing can make her purchase worthwhile. We women, as children, always hear the tale of Cinderella, there were those who loved it and those who hated it, but we have always been aware of one thing: that the shoe was forgotten on the steps to make a difference in the life or the poor, abused orphan who then becomes princess by chance. But the modern story may be different: to buy a shoe that makes a difference in someone else’s life, and give a real chance to have a better life. We will not be princesses, but we will help do something good.
