Some things are meant to finish before others. Things that you think will last forever, to give to those who admire that sense of certainty that from my heart does go on every day. And when the certainty vanishes, an empty part remains, big or small, depends only on the extent of certainty.
And this is the case of the line Marc by Marc Jacobs.
Created in 2001 by an American designer, this second line had two huge advantages that made people love it: the casual style and its prices, definitely more affordable than the first line of Marc Jacobs. So why quit something profitable that the public likes?
The will of a higher power, the power of the group that owns the line. The LVMH group are experts in fashion, and certainly the flagship stores and corners scattered around the world of this second line are among the most profitable, but it’s not enough. The LVMH group would aim to list on the stock exchange the company Marc Jacobs, and consequently, all the focus will be on the main line.
Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier
For two years, the line Marc by Marc Jacobs had been entrusted to Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier, and it is unknown whether, and how, the two designers will be reintegrated in the group, although Hillier has a better chance of staying. And it is certain that the accessories and clothing will be integrated into the main line.
You have to adapt to market needs, we must reorganize their team and pull out something innovative, while remaining faithful to their philosophy. But give to those who made a big label, a signature second line, will it be a winner?
