Se le serate in cui si consegnano premi fino a qualche anno fa era diventato il prototipo della serata noiosa, piena di elenchi, nomi, persone da ringraziare e discorsi che andavano ben oltre la banalità e lo stucchevole, i Grammy hanno dimostrato come la tendenza si sia invertita. Perché ieri sera non era tanto chi vinceva quanto chi si esibiva a contare.

Sam Smith si è aggiudicato il maggior numero di grammofoni d’oro, e posso assicurare che sono ben meritati ( Well done Sam!), lasciando a bocca asciutta le reginette del pop/nemiche Katy Perry e Taylor Swift, mentre il duo R&B Beyonce e Jay Z ha portato via ben due Grammy . Ma il miglior album dell’anno se l’è aggiudicato Beck  con Morning Place. Momento d’imbarazzo quando Kanye West ripete una performance che aveva messo in imbarazzo anni fa Taylor Swift sul palco  degli Mtv Awards: sale sul palco e afferma che Beyonce doveva vincere. Come si dice, Kanye: il lupo perde il pelo ma non il vizio. Felice, o meglio Happy, Pharrell Williams che si aggiudica il premio per la migliore canzone Pop.

Ritorno in grande stile per la Material Girl Madonna: la sua esibizione live allo Staples Center, con Living for Love, era un manifesto a tutte le aspiranti regine del pop. La Regina è tornata. Sul palco si sono avvicendati ,inoltre, Rihanna con Kanie West and Sir Paul McCartney, Beyoncé, Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Ed Sheeran, Beck con Chris Martin, Lady Gaga con Tony Bennett, Gwen Stefani con Adam Levine,  Tom Jones e Jessie J, Hozier con la sua Take me to Church, e poi in duetto con Annie Lennox con I put a spell on you.

Momento toccante è stato il tributo a Robin Williams, durante il quale nessuno ha potuto evitare di commuoversi nel ricordare un genio dal talento smisurato. La serata, durata ben quattro ore è stata aperta dall’iconica rock band degli AcDc, mancava solo Tony Stark/Iron man, e sulle note di Glory cantata da John Legend e Common, vincitrice come miglior canzoni a i passati Golden Globes e in profumo di Oscar.
